Learn-To-Ride classes are offered at Paw Paw Cycle each riding season beginning May through September. 
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course teaches the basic mental and physical skills needed for riding.

In Michigan, this course provides a waiver of the written and/or riding licensing tests. 

PRE-REQUISITE FOR Basic RiderCourse (BRC)
  • Able to balance and ride a bicycle
  • Possess either a valid MI Driver's License OR Motorcycle Learner's Permit OR Level 1 GDL Permit

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • 5-hour eCourse online class, that must be completed prior to first day of the in person Range Class.
  • 2 connsecutive days on the Riding Range consisting up to 5 hours each day.  
  • Range exercises include low-speed maneuvers and basic skills such as shifting, accelerating, braking, cornering, U-turn, lane change
  • You’ll be with the same group for the duration of your training
  • You’ll receive individual RiderCoach feedback while learning to ride
  • MOTORCYCLES ARE PROVIDED. You must provide your own helmet and other required gear, including all weather gear - BE PREPARED
  • Range exercises will be completed in RAIN, SHINE and everything in-between; just as you will encounter on your personal rides

WHAT TO BRING 
  • Food/beverages for breaks and lunch
  • Printed Copy of your MSF eCourse Certificate (completed online once you register)
  • Valid MI Driver's License OR Motorcycle Learner's Permit OR Level 1 GDL Permit
  • If under 18, bring your Parent the first day of class to sign the Waiver
  • A great attitude and smile!

WHAT YOU MUST WEAR 
  • DOT-compliant helmet
  • Eye protection
  • Long-sleeve shirt or jacket
  • Long, non-flare pants made of denim or equivalent or more durable material
  • Over-the-ankle boots (sturdy, not canvas)
  • Full-finger gloves, preferably leather

Payment is due at the time of online registration and is not payable at the dealership. The one time payment includes the eCourse and All Range Instruction.
